Evidence-based therapy
for the whole person
Integrating somatic, depth, and behavioural approaches to support lasting healing — for individuals and the practitioners who support them.

Who is Kaye Phillips?
A practitioner
rooted in depth & science
Hi, I'm Kaye — a Provisional Psychologist and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner based in Camberwell, Melbourne. I believe that true healing comes from addressing the mind, body, and the deeper layers of the self as interconnected parts of the whole.
With a background spanning psychology, somatic therapy, and depth work, I bring a genuinely integrative approach to each client. Whether we are working with nervous system dysregulation, the patterns held in the unconscious, or the behaviours keeping you stuck, the work we do together will be collaborative, rigorous, and deeply personal.
I'm here to remind you that healing isn't about fixing something that's broken — it's about coming home to yourself.
Qualifications
My Approach
Holistic, integrated,
evidence-based
With a strong background in Somatic Experiencing®, depth psychology, and behavioural therapy, I embrace a holistic approach — empowering individuals and supporting them in their wellness journeys. No single lens captures the full complexity of a human life.
"Within each of us lies the power to heal. Our innate ability to grow, adapt, and thrive never disappears — it simply waits for us to reconnect with it."
Somatic Experiencing®
A holistic approach to healing trauma that recognises the profound connection between mind and body. SE® works with what Dr Peter Levine calls the "felt sense" — clients move between sensations of distress and safety, allowing painful memories to be processed in a calm, resourced state. The body's innate wisdom leads the way.
Depth Psychology
An invitation to listen deeply to the recurring patterns that call for your attention — the themes that play out in your relationships, struggles, and joys. Through exploring dreams, symbols, and the archetypes that move through your life, we begin to untangle the threads of who you are and who you're becoming.
Behavioural Therapy
Understanding why we do what we do. Behavioural therapy explores the relationship between actions, thoughts, and environment — uncovering the "why" behind a behaviour so we can rewrite the "how" of our responses. Practical, focused, and compassionate. Small, consistent shifts lead to profound transformation.
Going Deeper
Beneath the surface
lies an uncharted ocean
Beneath the surface of our everyday thoughts and actions lies a vast, uncharted ocean — the subconscious. This is where the stories of your life reside, whispered by forgotten memories, hidden desires, and unspoken fears. It is the place where patterns are born and the roots of "why you are the way you are" take hold.
To journey into this inner world is to meet yourself anew — to sit with the echoes of your past and the dreams of your future, woven together in the present. Depth psychology invites you to listen to the recurring patterns, the themes that play out in your relationships, your struggles, your joys. These patterns are not coincidences; they are messages from within.
This journey isn't about fixing yourself — it's about knowing yourself deeply, meeting the hidden parts of you with curiosity and compassion. It is a slow and sacred unfolding. A lifelong relationship with yourself.
Somatic Experiencing in Melbourne
What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a gentle, body-based approach to working with trauma and restoring nervous-system regulation. Rather than asking you to relive what happened, we work with the body's felt sense — the sensations, impulses and rhythms beneath your thoughts — so your system can gradually release what it wasn't able to at the time, and find its way back toward safety. It's the heart of how I work, in person in Camberwell, Melbourne and online across Australia.
"Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence." — Dr Peter Levine, founder of Somatic Experiencing
The felt sense
SE works with the body's felt sense — the quiet language of sensation, temperature, tension and ease. By turning gently toward what the body is holding, rather than away from it, we let it begin to speak, and we begin to listen.
The window of tolerance
Trauma and chronic stress narrow the range in which we feel safe and present. SE aims to gently widen your window of tolerance, so more of life can be met without tipping into overwhelm or shutting down.
Titration & pendulation
We meet difficult material in small, manageable doses — titration — and move gently between activation and calm — pendulation. This is how the nervous system can process painful experience without being re-flooded by it.
I offer Somatic Experiencing therapy for people navigating trauma and PTSD, nervous-system dysregulation, chronic stress and burnout, chronic illness and pain, and conditions such as dysautonomia and POTS. SE doesn't promise to erase the past — it aims to help your nervous system feel safer, steadier, and more at home in the present. If it sounds like it might fit, you're welcome to make an enquiry.

FAQ
Common
questions
Somatic Experiencing is a gentle, body-based approach to working with trauma and stress. Rather than asking you to relive difficult events, it supports the nervous system to move out of survival states and back toward regulation, working with the felt sense of the body at a pace that feels safe.
Somatic Experiencing is an established, trauma-informed approach with a growing research base. I draw on it alongside evidence-based psychological practice, and I'll always be honest with you about what the work can and cannot offer.
Talk therapy works mainly with thoughts and narrative. Somatic Experiencing also listens to the body — sensations, nervous-system states, and the felt sense — so that change can settle at a physiological level, not only an intellectual one. The two work beautifully together.
No referral is needed — you're welcome to make an enquiry directly. As a Provisional Psychologist I'm not able to offer Medicare rebates, so sessions are private; I'll always be transparent about fees before we begin.
All sessions can be conducted online via secure, confidential video conferencing. You'll receive the same level of personalised care as you would in person — research consistently shows online therapy is equally effective for a wide range of presentations.
Standard sessions are 60 minutes. This allows us to work with sufficient depth while ensuring you have space to integrate before re-engaging with your day.
The frequency varies depending on your needs. Some clients benefit from weekly sessions, others from fortnightly or monthly check-ins. We'll determine the best rhythm during our initial session and adjust as needed over time.
I require 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or non-attendance will incur the full session fee. This policy protects the integrity of our work together.
If you're looking to move through challenges, understand yourself more deeply, or create lasting change, my approach may be a meaningful fit. Submit a referral form and I'll help you determine whether we're well-matched before we commit to working together.
Yes. I offer clinical supervision and external consultation services for NDIS organisations and PBS practitioners. Please reach out via the enquiry form for more details on these services.
